WEDDING FAQ

You've Got Questions.
I've got ANSWERS!
Planning a wedding comes with a lot of questions - so let's get you some answers! Whether you’re getting married in downtown Portland, in the Columbia River Gorge, or somewhere beautiful in between, this page covers the most common things couples ask me before booking.
If you don’t see your question here, just reach out. I’m always happy to help.
What’s your photography style?
My approach is a mix of candid storytelling and gentle guidance. I’ll capture your day as it naturally unfolds, while also helping with relaxed, easy prompts during portraits so you never feel stiff or awkward. The goal is photos that feel real, emotional, and true to you.
We’re awkward in front of the camera. How do you handle that?
Most couples feel this way at first! I’ll guide you with simple movement-based prompts so you can focus on each other, not the camera.
How do we book?
Start by reaching out through my contact form. We’ll set up a quick call to make sure we’re a good fit, then I’ll send over your contract and retainer invoice. Once those are complete, your date is officially reserved.
When should we book?
If you’re planning a spring, summer, or fall wedding, earlier is always better. That said, feel free to reach out even if your date is coming up, sometimes I have availability pop open.
Do you travel?
Yes! I’m based in Portland and photograph weddings throughout Oregon and beyond. Travel fees depend on location and logistics, just ask and I’ll share details.
Have you photographed our venue before?
Maybe? If it’s new to me, I’ll research the space, lighting, and layout ahead of time so I arrive prepared.
Do you help with our timeline?
Yes! I’ll help you build a timeline that protects space for the moments that matter most (like portraits, family photos, and golden hour), while keeping your day feeling relaxed instead of rushed.
What happens if it rains?
We roll with it. I’ll help you plan backup options and embrace whatever weather Portland gives us. Some of my favorite photos happen on rainy days.
Do you use flash?
Yes, mainly during darker receptions and on the dance floor.
Do you work with a second photographer?
A second photographer is included in one of my packages and can also be added on to any collection. They’re great for larger weddings, tight timelines, or getting coverage in multiple places at once.
Can we request specific photos?
Of course! Especially for family groupings and meaningful details. I’ll also document the day organically so you don’t feel like you’re checking boxes all day.
How do family photos work?
Before the wedding, we’ll create a simple family photo list. On your wedding day, I’ll guide everything quickly and kindly. Having one helper who knows both families is always a bonus.
Do you photograph elopements or smaller weddings?
Yes! Whether it’s a full celebration or something intimate, I’m here for it.
How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is different, but you’ll receive a full gallery that tells the complete story of your day, from big moments to quiet in-between ones.
When will we get our photos?
You’ll receive sneak peeks within 48 hours, and your full edited gallery within 4–6 weeks.
Do you deliver RAW or unedited files?
I don’t deliver RAW files. Editing is a huge part of my work and ensures your gallery reflects my style and storytelling.
Do we get printing rights?
Yes, your gallery includes high-resolution downloads with full personal printing rights.
Can you retouch photos?
Light, natural retouching is included (things like temporary blemishes or small distractions). If you’re looking for more extensive editing, I’m happy to chat about that.
How do we receive our images?
You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order professional-quality prints if you’d like.
Can we post our photos on social media?
Please do!
Are you insured and do you bring backup gear?
Yes to both. I always carry backup cameras, cards, and batteries. Your memories are not something I take lightly.
What if something unexpected happens and you can’t make it?
In the rare case of an emergency, I have trusted photographer connections and a backup plan to make sure you’re taken care of.
Are engagement sessions included?
Engagement sessions are included in two of my wedding packages and can also be added on to any collection. They’re a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.
